World Unseen:
the photography exhibition you don’t need to see

Canon believes that everyone should be able to experience photography. That’s why we launched World Unseen, the photography exhibition you don’t need to see: an immersive experience for blind, partially sighted, and sighted people - where you don’t just see the photography, you feel it.

Using Canon technology and with the help of the RNIB, we created lifelike tactile prints, braille and audio descriptions, and immersive soundscapes, to change the way blind and partially sighted people experience photography, the way sighted people see the blind, and the way we all see Canon.

Untold stories

To promote the exhibition, we launched a film series, in which blind and partially sighted people meet with photographers and experience their photography for the first time.

See the first episode here with Canon Ambassador Brent Stirton and blind conservationist Lawrence Gunther - and visit YouTube to see sports photographer Samo Vidic and Paralympic Games medal winner, Menna Fitzpatrick; photojournalist Yagazie Emezi and blind content creator and activist Lucy Edwards; and ultrasound practitioner Bill Smith and expectant mother Karen Trippass.

We launched the exhibition at Somerset House in London, on the Canon website, on social, radio, and out-of-home.
